A community development & employment generation initiative that explores the rich cultural heritage of India’s Tree of Gold: Sandalwood

About Sunheri Sugandh

My community service campaign is Sunheri Sugandh. Through this initiative, I have explored the incredible richness that our country has in its art, culture, history, and tradition while trying to use that lineage to generate employment. My project specifically narrows down to sandalwood's cultural and historical symbolism and how it extends beyond culture today, making its significance felt even in the world of trade, commerce, and economics.

Since March 2020, when India saw the first wave of Coronavirus infections followed by the lockdown, unemployment has become a growing concern. Those with the advantage of a formal educational degree or qualification are undoubtedly quicker to recover from such circumstances but others in the organised employment sector continue to grapple with the challenges of putting food on their plates.

Such people who may fall short in terms of their qualification nevertheless are people with exceptional potential and unique abilities. Unfortunately, it is the absence of an analytical barometer to measure their talent and skill that leads to them being left behind.
